We will preview the UEFA Europa League final featuring Fulham v Atletico Madrid live while live stream could be informed via other streaming channels here. In their first European final since the club was formed 139 years ago, Fulham will be bidding to win their first ever major silverware as they go up against Atletico Madrid in the final on May 12 in the HSH Nordbank Arena in Germany. It may be a happy hunting ground for the west London side after they managed a 0-0 draw with the home side in the semi final before winning 2-1 on aggregate.
Atletico Madrid have made their way to the Europa League final after beating a string of classy opponents including Liverpool in the semi finals, fellow La Liga side Valencia before that and other notable teams like Sporting Lisbon. Their last four win was especially memorable as they came from behind to beat Liverpool on the away goals rule in extra time at Anfield.
The last time Fulham had a chance for silverware was in 1975 when they contested the FA Cup final against West Ham United, only to lose out then. Now they are 90 minutes away from creating history and to make a return to the competition next season – a prospect that can only happen if they lift the trophy.
Fulham will have some injury concerns in the form of Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff. Zamora has been carrying an Achilles injury since the semi final and played through pain, with the help of a painkilling injection, in the semi final second leg. Cottagers manager Roy Hodgson will rest the player in the club’s last Premier League fixture against Arsenal as well as a whole host of players in order to rest them after the club’s request to bring forward the fixture was denied by the league. Zamora is crucial to the Cottagers’ hopes after scoring 3 goals in the competition and has been strong holding up the ball upfront while bringing other players into the game.
Damien Duff is also in a race to be fit for the game and has undertaken high altitude oxygen treatment in order to speed up his recovery from a calf problem. He could be more likely to feature as Zamora’s injury could be a risky one to take chances on in light of what happened to AC Milan’s David Beckham earlier in the season.
Roy Hodgson has spoken of his desire to follow in the footsteps of good friend Sir Bobby Robson in becoming the next English manager to win a European trophy. Robson last did it with Barcelona and now Hodgson can emulate him by guiding Fulham to the Europa League final trophy against Atletico Madrid. The former Inter Milan coach will also not be happy or rest until his team wins as he derives no satisfaction from just being at the final.
Atletico Madrid may have the quality players that are capable of walking into any of the top European clubs, but whether the likes of Diego Forlan, Jurado, Jose Reyes and Sergio Aguero can lift themselves to the battling level of Fulham’s band of modest players will be another question altogether. Their strongest suit remains going forward with their South American front duo consistently proving to be one of the deadliest in European football. While both Forlan and Aguero have not hit the heady goalscoring heights of previous seasons due to injuries and club issues, they can never be left alone or the ball will more often than not land in the back of the net from their feet.
Sergio Aguero has also thrown down a challenge to the club’s opponents in the Atletico Madrid vs Fulham live streaming match after declaring that the Premier League club has no history and will not be qualified to win the Europa League final. It is a strange thing to say by the Argentinian striker as the Cottagers have already beaten many of the world’s best teams in the tournament, including Juventus and Wolfsburg.
Jose Reyes has survived a low point in his career after being discarded by Arsenal and other Spanish clubs before reinventing himself with Benfica and now with Atletico. His wingplay with Simao has also driven the club in attack and many goals have been a direct result of their penetrative play coinciding with Aguero and Forlan’s finishing.
But their defence remain their weakest link and Fulham will be looking to exploit that extensively. Zoltan Gera – scorer of the winning goal in the semi final – will be probing form the centre of the park while hoping Zamora – if he is fit to play – and Clint Dempsey can finish them off. Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy will hope to finish his career on a high with his first major trophy since leaving Anfield as we watch the Fulham v Atletico Madrid live stream UEFA Europa League final.
